Adrian Bakas

Adrian (Abe) Bakas of Port Orange, FL, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2014. A devoted husband and father, Adrian was born December 29, 1925 in Dubois, PA and raised by his parents Bill and Leocadia Bakaszynski. A proud U.S. veteran, he served in the Navy during World War II and was involved in the D-Day invasion as well as seeing action in the Pacific aboard the LST-537. Upon return from service he married Margaret Reister in 1950 and began working for the Kellogg's Cereal Company where he retired after a career of more than 30 years in his western PA sales territory. With his passion for collecting, Adrian was well known for collecting coins and also dabbled in hunting, fishing, and golfing. Adrian and his wife Peggy moved to Port Orange FL in 1998 where they enjoyed traveling, spending time with their family, and hanging out at the local "McDonalds." Throughout his life, so many of people who met him got to like and respect his honesty, humor and traditional values. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him including survivors - wife Peggy, brothers - Alan and Norbert, children - Kathy and John, four grandchildren, and a great-grandson. A memorial service will be held in DuBois, PA for friends and family.
