Albert Cappalli Obituary

Albert's family will miss the twinkle in his eyes, his quick wit, and mischievous grin. We will forever remember his tenacity, warm heart, strong sense of right and wrong, and of course his keen sense of humor. Albert was an accomplished athlete, combining some natural talent with limitless drive and determination. Albert played football at Classical High School in Providence and at the University of Rhode Island. An avid golfer, seven (7) times he stroked a hole-in-one and at age 80 shot a 76. In between were countless games, runs and rounds. Albert played for fun - and winning was the most fun. As a coach and innovative educator, Albert gave thousands of young people a better chance to live a successful life, especially his students at Peconic Street Middle School in Long Island. But Albert's innate ability to bring out the best in people wasn't limited to children or the school grounds. Albert was authentic and generous. He respected and appreciated a person for who they were and how they lived their lives-not their position, net worth or race or religion. He fiercely advocated for his friends, co-workers and subordinates. Those closest to Albert know he was a humble man working full-time into his 80's. Albert loved his family as much as we all loved him. His brother Richard, Albert's children Craig and Lisa, their children and their mom Carole. And of course his wife Nancy Johnson Cappalli, who shared not just herself but her family with Albert and helped him build a new and wonderful life. Albert passed on November 15, 2016. Arrangements are private. Albert's family asks that you extend an act of kindness in Albert's memory. If you wish to make a donation, please consider Florida Hospital Hospice Care. Notes, cards, and shared memories directed to Nancy are invited and will be appreciated.

Just found out today - over 2 months later about Al. What a gentleman he was. He was very compassionate and never interrupted anyone speaking at a Plantation Board meeting. Al knew how to laugh and brighten the day. My husband and I send belated condolences to his family, friends and neighbors.

I met Al while working at Cypress Knolls golf course. On a rainy day, Albert would sit in the pro shop where I worked and we would solve the world's problem. More laughs then I can count. He was the best friend. RIP Albert

Jim and I are so sorry for your loss, Nancy. I remember Al from his subbing days and knew he was a good, kind and smart guy. Of course, I also remember being invited to your 'house warming' which was outstanding. I know you will take comfort in the happy memories you have had with Al. Miss you.
