Anthony M. "Tony" Hickling

1938 - 2016

Anthony M. "Tony" Hickling, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed from this world to heaven on September 3, 2016, at his home in Samsula, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Anthony was born in Edmeston, Otsego County, New York on November 22, 1938, the son of Rolland and Merab (Harrington) Hickling. He graduated from Edmeston Central School in 1957 and attended SUNY at Morrisville, NY. On November 15, 1958, he married Marlea Willems, daughter of Jacob and Beatrice Willems at the First Baptist Church in Burlington Flats, NY. Following their marriage, they resided in Edmeston, where Anthony was engaged in farming. In October of 1963, they relocated to (Samsula) New Smyrna Beach, FL, where they built a home and buildings to house chickens for engagement in the egg production entity of poultry farming. In 1976, he and his family built and established Hickling Feed, Inc. Tony was a prominent businessman in the community and was loved and respected by his many customers and friends. Survivors include his three children; Scott Hickling, Darryl Hickling, and Tricia Huie, all of Samsula; six grandchildren, Michelle Hickling of Port Orange, Russell Hickling of Edgewater, Dana Jo Hickling, Ashley Houle, Jarrod and Dyland Huie, all of Samsula; three great-grandchildren, Marlea Grace Scafuri of Samsula and Scarlett and Oliver of Port Orange; four sisters and three brothers, Alberta Fitch of New Smyrna Beach, Alton (Joan) Hickling, Vincent (Linda ) Hickling, Lawrence (Joyce) Hickling, Theresa (Roy) Church of Indianapolis, IN, Malvina (Hugh) Friel of Paoli, PA, and Constance Zinger of Edmeston, NY. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marlea, infant daughter, Tracie Lynn, his parents, and one brother, Rolland Hickling, Jr. Services for family only will be held at a later date.
