Brian Bunel Obituary
Brian T. Bunel, age 49, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, died October 2, 2017 at his residence. He was a beloved son of Lois (Basso) and Jules Bunel. He will be remembered as a kind and generous friend to many. Among his talents were cooking, music and sports. He moved to this area from Winsted, Connecticut with his parents in the early 80's. Brian graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School where he was a wrestler and football player until a severe knee injury caused him to give up athletics. He loved playing the guitar, composing songs, fishing, video and casino games. His cooking ability led him to positions as an executive chef in Washington, D. C., Key West and Central FL. He also worked with his parents J & L Travel Agency for 20 years. With his outgoing personality he made many friends escorting tours to the Biloxi Mississippi Casinos. Most recently he worked in General Contracting. He belonged to the Moose Lodge and Sons of The American Legion. Survivors include his parents and a brother, Jules Michael Bunel; aunts and uncles include Marilyn & (Thomas) Dougherty, Charles & (Regina) Bunel, Donald Bunel, Andrea (Bunel) & (Bill) Folland, Harold (deceased) & Joyce Ramsey and numerous cousins. Father Jerome Chavarria, long time friend, will be officiating the Christian Mass at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 19th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Smyrna Beach. My condolences to Jules, Lois, Michael and Brian's friends. Though we were friends years ago, I remember how warm and thoughtful Brian was. I remember him playing his guitar for me when I felt down. I am truly sorry that he has gone. I'm sure he will never leave your hearts.
