DONALD BUSH Obituary

- Donald Allen Bush, 82, died on September 15th at his home. He was born in Wilmington DE. Served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. After this he moved to West Palm Beach where he married Eleanor his wife of 53 years. Then he worked as a civilian at Palm Beach Air Force Base in the radar/navigation unit. He then worked for NOAA hurricane hunter project as electronics crew chief and flew on one of the aircrafts for three years under very dangerous and hazardous conditions. The plane penetrated Hurricane Carla six times in eight days which helped them with more accurate warning. In 1962 the US Dept of Conmmerce highest award (a gold medal) was awarded to him for his outstanding contributions to the advancements of science. He moved to Daytona Beach in 1963 where he worked at the National Weather Service as a electronics tech until his retirement. He enjoyed playing the drums and piano, jazz music, sailing, fishing, bowling, and his dogs. He and his wife were members of the Palm Beach Sports Car Club and ABC Bowling Congress. He was grateful for his friends and loyal care givers Sandy and Chris Rozwadowski, Ann and Bob Hedberg, David Fox and James McDonnell for their support. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, daughter Lisa Hot Springs, NC, son Mike Ormond Beach and two grandchildren Hailey and Jackson Ormond Beach and a brother Douglas of Stuart FL. Memorial donations may be sent to Memorial Heart Institute 875 Sterthaus Ave Ormond Beach or Halifax Humane Society 2364 LPGA Blvd Daytona Beach FL. There will be no memorial service but a private interment at a later date. Condolences may be shared online at www.haigh-black.com or at www.news-journalonline.com
