Frances Castagnacci Obituary

The family and many friends of Frances B. Castagnacci are deeply saddened by her passing on December 26. Frances, 87, was postmaster in Morgan, Pa. (a suburb of Pittsburgh) for more than 20 years, where she was well-known for always being cheerful, kind, caring and helpful. Frances had a strong love and passion for children, literacy and faith in God. As such, she excelled as a Catholic Sunday school teacher, elementary school reading mentor and volunteer for the Literacy Council. She was dedicated to family, friends and community - and known for sending numerous greeting cards for everyone's special occasions and holiday events. After retirement, Frances relocated to Ormond Beach. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Albert Castagnacci and later in life by her second husband Earl Pierce. In Ormond Beach, she is survived by her two sons and caregivers, David Castagnacci and Robert Renckowski. In the Pittsburgh area, she is survived by son Albert (the late Beverly) Castagnacci; daughter Marilyn (Larry) Carelli; six grandchildren: Shannon (Eddie) McGuire; Heather (Brian) Stumpf; and Justin (fiancee Lane) Castagnacci; Larry, Wayne and Brian Carelli; and six great grandchildren. Frances had three siblings: Casimir (Joan) Bernaciak; Genevieve (the late Joseph) Turko; and the late Irene (George) Zimbicki. A memorial service for Frances is scheduled for 11 a.m., January 14 in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 S. Nova Road, Ormond Beach - followed by a 'Gathering of Remembrance' in the nearby Wellington Station community clubhouse. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
