Frank McGowan Obituary

Frank P. McGowan died July 1, 2008, after a long illness at Stewart F. Meyer Hospice Center, Palm Coast. He was born on March 4, 1933, in Nyack, N.Y. He was raised and educated in Haverstraw, N.Y., and attended St. Peter's Boys School and graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1950. He graduated from American Academy of Mortuary Science Institute, New York City. He served in the U.S. Army in the early 1950's in the Far East. He was a licensed funeral director and owner of three T J McGowan Sons Funeral Homes in Rockland County, N.Y. He was a life member of the Haverstraw Fire Department assigned to Lady Warren Hose Company #5, where he served as warden for the Fire Council and as secretary for many years. He was a life member of the Elks BPOE 877, Haverstraw, N.Y., and a member of the Leo Laders American Legion Post #2308, Thiells, N.Y., the National Order of The Golden Rule Funeral Organization where membership was only by invitation and he was a life member of the NRA. He is survived by his wife, Beverly A. McGowan; son, Sean Mathew, wife, Anda, and children, Alexandria and Jackson Dakota, New Milford, Conn.; son, Stephen Jude,wife, Tonia, and children, Morgan, Jack and Ellie, Stony Point, N.Y.; brother, Richard McGowan and wife, Marie, Burnsville, Minn.; stepdaughter, Cara Ann Buckley, husband, John, and children, Sean, Deirdre and Meg, Delmar, N.Y. He also leaves several nieces and nephews from New Britain, Conn. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. Visiting hours at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Belle Terre, Palm Coast, will be on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 1040 Woodcock Rd., Suite 119, Orlando, Fla. 32803 or Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL. 32128. The family of Mr. McGowan entrusted the arrangemnets to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.
