Fred E. McRee, 87, a resident of Daytona Beach, passed away on Tuesday, May 22nd at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona. Fred was born to Perry and Ava McRee in Maiden, N.C. on August 11, 1930 and moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1958. He owned McRee Construction and worked on sites throughout the area including many residential projects. Fred enjoyed getting away to the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains, was a true NASCAR fan and also enjoyed some gardening. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Perry and Ava, his son David and daughter Tonya, four brothers: R.J, Bud, Joel and Neil and his four sisters: Dorothy, Mildred, Frankie, and Barbara. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 41 years, Donna, his two sons, Fred Jr. and Mitchel, his two daughters, Deborah McRee and Dana Silver(Mike), two stepsons, Thomas Chapman and Jerry Weaver, his stepdaughter Angie Dangerfield and his sister Vicky Martin (Wayne) of Maiden, N. C. Fred also leaves behind his grandchildren: Kristi, Shanna, Jessica, Justin, Robert, Mitchell, Alana, Thomas, Dillon and Tripp along with 14 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held for Fred on Saturday, May 26 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona beginning at 1 pm with calling hours beginning at noon. Interment at Daytona Memorial Park will follow services. Those who wish may also share condolences online at: lohmanfuneralhomes.com.

Donna,
Fred was one of the best uncle's that I had growing up. He was always there willing to lend a hand or give some advice at any time or just willing to listen. He was such a wonderful person and I'm a better person because I had the two of you in my life at such a tender age! Thank you both for everything! God bless you and I will always love you!

Geri and I consider ourselves very lucky to have met you and your wonderful wife Donna,
I know our little Dillon and Tripp will miss their Poppa terribly.. You were a dear sweet man with a great sense of humor. It was an honor to be co-grandparents with you..you were one of the best and you will be greatly missed.
