Henry Behrens Obituary

Henry George Behrens, 82, of Port Orange, passed away on February 10, 2017, surrounded by his loving wife and their three children. His shy eager smile, sparkling eyes, and easy laugh will be greatly missed. Henry was born in Ebbenseik, Germany and moved to America at the age of 17 in 1952, becoming a U.S. citizen soon after. The skills Henry learned at an auto repair shop in Germany came in handy in his new home of Burlington, New Jersey. Always mechanically inclined and gifted with the "ability to fix anything," Henry worked in the automotive industry for twenty years before moving to Florida. Henry thrived in the Sunshine State becoming self-employed in Mac Tool sales and then as owner and operator of Fisherman's Landing Miniature Golf in New Smyrna Beach. Even in retirement, he kept busy but enjoyed family time the most. His life was a lesson in integrity, strong work ethic, and especially love of God and family.
Henry was a soft spoken gentleman who loved to dance and enjoyed good company, especially the company of his five grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lily, his son Kevin and wife Cindi and grandchildren Brian and Baylee; his daughter Lisa Behrens-Luciani and her husband Douglas and grandchild Matthew; and son Shawn and his wife Stephanie and grandchildren Rowan and Avalyn. We will always remember Henry's joyful countenance and anticipation of each day as the next page in life's wonderful adventure. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 15 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 South Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL. Burial will be at Daytona Memorial Park, Daytona Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
