Ida,

Charlene and I are thinking about you again, as always, this time of year. It's hard to believe it's been six years since we last saw you and Howard together. I hope Father Time is doing his job and kindly healing you. Please stay in touch. We live in VA now and, I imagine, close to the cabin you and Howard shared. Please know that you are welcome anytime at our guest house "Cozy In Crozet" (AirB&B). Bring friends, too, if you like. The more the merrier.

All the Best.

Howard was our dear friend for many, many years. He an Ida married Annamaria and me in 1993. He was a jovial dinner companion and a patient gentleman as he put up with my painful lack of talent on the golf course. We played frequently for fifteen years or so; I never won; he never complained. We shared many great dinners and good times together. His passing leaves a great void in our lives. We miss him. He left too soon.

I met 'Hod' when his fam moved to Seabrook from Okinawa and remember his house as a place that always felt safe and abundant.Plenty of clever humor and love to go around along with a serious dedication to better oneself. Which was reflected in the classroom and the field. He was always the 'big kid' and an under-rated athlete, one of the original 'Worrell Ave. Wonders' during the Seabrook softball dynasty who displayed incredible heart and fortitude when the chips were down. His hearty laugh will be missed...Prayers go out to his family...

Dear Ida and family, I grew up with Howard in Seabrook and and remember him fondly from elementary school through high school. Hearing of his passing is hard for those of us that knew him then. The friends you have when you are young stick with you forever. Peace be with you in this time of loss.

I hadn't seen Howard in over 35 years. But as I read the wonderful things people were saying about him that knew him more recently I realized something. To a person they were describing the "boy" that I knew growing up in Seabrook, Maryland. Then when I saw the pictures of him I was convinced of it. And even though his hair had moved from the top of his head to his cheeks it couldn't hide hide that smile. Life is truly a circle. I am just blessed that for a small time on this crazy ride that I got to spend some of it with him. Thank you all for sharing his life with someone who hasn't seen him for so long. God bless you Howard...I'll see you later!

Dear Ida,
I grew up 2 houses down from Howard on Worrell Ave. in Seabrook, Md. We played together in each other's yards and on organized baseball teams. I have not seen him in many years, but I remember him fondly as a stand up guy while we were boyhood pals. My condolences to you and your entire family in your time of loss.
Sincerely,
Jim Hickerson

Howard was not a friend of the family, he was family. He was someone I both respected and admired, for being himself. He was a man who enriched everyone who he met, and it was his most enduring trait. I knew him for my whole life, and with him gone, a part of my life is missing. Love you Howard and Ida.

Ida, Mom, Dad, Mike and Jeff,
My big brother…….He was a very caring person, always seemed to be there when I needed him and even a few times when I didn't. He was joyful, had a great sense of humor and a very hardy laugh. He was always thinking and asking about other people. I always loved to sit around and listen to his stories. We all had a different connection to him and we will all miss him in our own way.
