JOHN McNAMEE Obituary

John McNamee, 99, of Port Orange passed away peacefully on March 3, 2013. A mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, on Friday, March 8, 2013, 4675 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, Florida. He was born on November 8, 1913 in Newberg, West Virginia to the late Jane (Lennon) and William McNamee. He grew up in Donora, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Donora High School in 1932. He married Cora Larimer on February 3, 1940, and together they had five daughters. Cora passed away in 1968, and John remarried Mary K. "Cassie "Dewar in 1972. On October 27, 2012 they celebrated 40 years of marriage. John worked in the Donora Steel and Sulfate of Iron Industry, and also for Combustion Engineering & Hayes Ammunition Plant. He was in Civil Conservation Camp for two years building roads during the depression. He loved to play shuffle board act in the La Coasta Village shows, dance, and to do crossword puzzles. John and Cassie lived in Monongahela, PA until their move to Port Orange, FL in 1991. They loved living in Florida. He was on the H.O.A Board in La Coasta Village, and also secretary of the H.M.O. John was also a member of Holy Name Society, where he was a Knight of Columbus. Those left to cherish is memory are his wife, Mary Kathryn "Cassie" McNamee; children, Jane (John) Lengyel, Joyce (Ken) Yowan, Kathleen (Alden) Miller, Mary Beth (Jack) Dewar, Nancy (John) Chiprich: step children, Jack Dewar, and Kathleen (Mark) Boros; twelve grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Jane Mcnamee; siblings, Thomas McNamee, Kathleen Cole, Mary Jane Myett, first wife, Cora (Larimer) McNamee, and great-grandson, Josh Morrow. In lieu of flowers the donations can be made in his memory be sent to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Wood-briar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Baggett and Summers Funeral Home. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com
