Leland Eppelheimer Obituary

Leland George Eppelheimer, age 90, of New Smyrna Beach, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Born in Thawville, Illinois, Mr. Eppelheimer was a farmer, a retired floor manager for the Broom Factory and custodian for Volusia Pubic Schools. A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he was a loving and dedicated father, who coached his children and attended all of their school events. In his spare time, he enjoyed walking on the beach, making wood crafts, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Eppelheimer is survived by two sons, Daniel (Dee Dee) Eppelheimer of Ormond Beach and David Eppelheimer of Wilmington, Delaware; a daughter, Cindy (John) Thompson of Columbia, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jade Eppelheimer of Manhattan, New York, Sharon (Brent) Townsend of Mission Viejo, California, Mary (Tony) Zanca of Mission Viejo, California, and Brian Eppelheimer of Wilmington, Delaware; and four great-grandchildren, Gabe Townsend, Reese Townsend, Nathan Townsend, and Elijah Zanca. A Memorial Mass will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiated by The Redemptorist Fathers. Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Eppelheimer's name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, P.O. Box 729, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32170; AARP Foundation, P.O. Box 93207, Long Beach, CA 90809-3207; Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 2381 Mason Avenue, Ste. 100, Daytona Beach, FL 32117; or Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 S.
