Michael Jones Obituary
May 25 1950 - January 6 2020
MICHAEL WALL JONES "MIKE" 69, of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2020 surrounded by loving family and friends. Born in Greensboro NC to the late Samuel Wall Jones and the late Faith Hawkins Jones on May 24, 1950 he moved to Orlando in the early 1950's. Mike played football for Boone High School, graduating in 1968. He graduated from The University of Florida in 1972 earning a degree in Journalism. After college Mike taught at Colonial High School where he also coached football and wrestling. He then earned his Juris Doctorate at Mercer Law School and practiced law in Orlando for many years, most recently with the firm of Jones, Hurley, & Hand, P.A. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Karen (Kippy), his step-daughter Patricia Bell Shuford & his step-son Joshua Bell; his three grandchildren Curran, Ryan, & Grayson; his sister, Nancy Jones Osborne, & many in-laws, nieces & nephews. Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There will be a Celebration of Life for Mike on January 18, 2020 from 2pm-4pm at Lulu's Oceanside Grill in Ormond Beach, FL. There will be a private graveside service for the family at a later date.

I know we all feel cheated with death and that we all wanted more time with Mike. I just met Mike a few years ago as you know and I immediately felt close to him. He was so easy to talk to and every time I saw him he always had a big smile and always made me feel so important. I pray for you and the entire family and look forward to spending some time with you this weekend.

Kippy, sincere condolences.
It was nice to spend time with you and Mike when I was in Orlando a few years back. He shared a long story about how the two of you got together, and it was clear how smitten he'd remained. His face lit up every time he looked at you!
I'm glad that he found such joy, and hope that the memory of his love will always be with you.

I met Mike in 2002 when I began working at Westminster Retirement Communities. He was our dedicated attorney. We attended many mediations together over the course of 5 years. He was so smart, funny, kind, polite and intuitive. I will never forget him. I was so sad to hear of his passing. Prayers for his family.....He talked about you all the time. The world has lost an amazing and gentle soul. Gone too soon!

Mike was a great entertainer in his many homes. We feel blessed to have had so many wonderful times with mike and kippy, the grand new years eve dinners are among the memories . Kippy and family,
Mike was one of my best friends growing up and a great teammate. I've always had a tremendous amount of respect for Mike....teaching, coaching, then returning to law school and becoming a successful lawyer. Our hearts and prayers are with all of you.
