Richard Calandro Obituary

Richard N. Calandro, 74, born December 27, 1940, in Detroit, MI, passed July 11, 2014. Richard served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 361, where he served as Post Commander four (4) times; Life member; Disabled American Veteran's; Charter Knoxville #24; Amvets Post 2, Edgewater; Eagles Aerie #4401; BFFAR, Holly Hill. Richard was predeceased by his father, John L. Calandro, mother, Genevieve, first wife, Sue Calandro and later, significant other, Judith Grubb. He is survived by his loving son, Tony Calandro; daughter-in-law, Sue Russell; loving daughter, Kirsten Smelcer and granddaughter, Cory Smelcer; Brother, Mario Calandrino, sister in law, Martha; brother, Garrick R. Calandro, sister in law, Kathy. A celebration of life will be held on July 27, 2014 at American Legion Post 361, 2648 S. Ridgewood Ave., South Daytona at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to American Legion Post 361 to be distributed to various charities in his name.
