In Loving Memory

Sept 26, 2007 On this day, five years ago the late Steve Mavronas passed away abruptly from cancer. My father, Steve, was the founder of Steve's Famous Diner. Even though his body has passed his legacy has continued to live on each and everyday thanks to my brother, Christos Mavronas. Steve's Famous Diner still has homemade style food at large portions and reasonable prices which is exactly what my father taught us. His exact words were "Never be cheap with the people. Give them a lot of food." We believe that food is love and love keeps the world revolving.
My father came to this country at 16 years old with the idea that he would make his dreams become reality. And that he did. He started as a dishwasher in New York not knowing any English when he came to the United States, and not having any money for a home, he slept in the basement of his workplace until he saved enough to rent an apartment. His skills improved in every area of restaurant leadership along with his English. And so began his promising career of being a restaurant entrepreneur, and being the brilliant father that he was passed those skills on to us, his children. So daddy, I thank you for helping me in who I have become today. I miss your physical presence, but know your soul continues to live on.
