Betty Battenberg Obituary

Betty Sue Battenberg

Betty Sue Battenberg, 74 of Springfield, was born on June 6, 1940 in Brownbranch, MO to Ruth Turner and Orville Johnson. She passed away on November 14, 2014.

She married her best friend William Battenberg on September 13, 1959. They were married for 54 years. She was an LPN and cared for her husband until his passing in April 2014. She loved the holidays, gardening, traveling, crocheting and other crafts. She also enjoyed her bible study group.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Ann Gordon; brother, Jim Johnson and nephew, Clyde Gordon.

Surviving is 2 daughters, Catherine (James) Vanzandt and Sherry Sullens; 4 grandchildren, Jamie Soest, Joshua Vanzandt, Adam Sullens and Nathaniel Sullens; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Lou Winder and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 1-2 PM at Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W State Hwy EE (Division), Springfield, MO. Service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Paula Hoer officiating. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Donations may be made in honor of Betty to the Care to Learn Foundation, 411 N Sherman Pkwy, Springfield, MO 65802
