Charles Garrett Obituary

Charles Warren "Chuck" Garrett was born January 22, 1937, in Ozark, Arkansas, to Bertie Clyde and Annie (Hayes) Garrett. He graduated from Country Line High School, Ratcliff, Arkansas, and Toledo School of Meatcutting, Toledo, Ohio. He studied business and marketing at Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Missouri. He joined the First Methodist Church of Ozark, Arkansas, at an early age. He was also a member of First Methodist Church, Jefferson City, Missouri, and Rogersville, Missouri. On Friday, July 20, 2007, he asked friends to pray with him and accepted Christ. He was a Navy veteran. On June 2, 1962, he married Doris Arleene Glaubitz. To this union was born one daughter, Janet Kay. He spent forty years in the grocery business as the owner of Nixa IGA. He retired from Smitty's of Springfield in 1996. He owned Ozark Treasures Flea Market and Furniture Store until June of 2007. He was an active real estate investor at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, J.C. Garrett; sisters, Emogene Alston, Dorothy Williams, Betty Winegar and Pat Graham; brother-in-law, Charles Jr. Glaubitz; and sister-in-law, Katherine Glaubitz. He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughter Janet (Garrett) Jacopian and husband, Michael Shayne Jacopian; grandsons, Shayne Garrett Jacopain and Chase Michael Jacopain, all of Rogersville; 16 nephews and four nieces and their families; sisters-in-law, Margaret Smith, Rogersville, Rosalie Kiefer, Waconia, Minn., Lucy Hurd, Springfield, Mo., Shirly Stone, Fordland, Mo.; and Junior's wife, Mary Glaubitz Fields; two nephews-in-law and four nieces-in-law and their families. There will be no formal visitation, however, friends may call in the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2007, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with military honors to follow. Private interment will be in White Oak Cemetery, Rogersville. Due to Mrs. Garrett's health concerns, the family requests no fragrances (perfumes or colognes) or fresh flowers.
