I remember teaching a history class at SMPHS and was interrupted by a knock on the door upon opening it there stood Chris who was a great person and dedicated football player; the conversation went like this: What do you want Chris? " Your suppose to beat me" What for? " Laughing at Sister ...... story about her dead dad ". What was so funny about Sister's dead dad? "Well Sister said that after he died he would help her carry in a heavy bucket of water each morning when she was a little girl". So Chris you laughed? " Not until Conrady said he didn't know buckets had been invented way back then!" I told Chris to consider himself "beaten" and to go back and apologize to Sister. As Chris walked away he said "Coach I won't smile the rest of the day". For Chris I knew that would be a hard day because he always had a smile on his face and in his heart.
With best thoughts I will celebrate Chris Hull's reunion Coach Albert "Gus" Saladin
