Danny Royster Obituary

Danny Lee Royster

Danny Lee Royster, 63, passed away October 30, 2016 at Woodland Manor in Springfield, Missouri with his family and friends at his side, ending his battle with cancer. He was born May 30, 1953 in Springfield, Missouri to Melvin and Eleanor Royster. At the age of 5, the family relocated to Diggins, Missouri where Melvin operated a construction company and raised cattle and horses.

Dan graduated from Seymour High School and attended Southwest Missouri State. He worked as a Springfield firefighter for sixteen years and later became a chauffeur for Woodland Manor. Dan married his wife Cristi Ann Hulsey in 1991, and to this union their son Dylan was born.

Dan was active in life including being a past Mayor of the city of Rogersville. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and cowboy action shooter. He was a member of the Henderson Masonic Lodge of Rogersville, co-founder of Fishtails, a member of Springfield Bass Club and a member of the Southern Missouri Rangers who awarded him the status of lifetime Ranger. Dan was a mentor of cowboy shooting to son Dylan, who in 2008 won Missouri, Iowa, and Oklahoma State championships.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Cristi, of the home, three sons; Dylan and his wife Hannah of Springfield, Jonathan and his wife Marianne of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jason of Birmingham, Alabama, one brother; Wendell Royster and his wife Jan, of Springfield, one sister; Sharon Burch of Springfield, five grandchildren, as well as a host of other family, friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of Woodland Manor and Hospice Compassus for the wonderful care they gave Dan.

There will be a Memorial Visitation from 6:00-8:00pm, Friday, November 4, 2016 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Southern Missouri Rangers.
