Glen Mason Obituary
Glen Henry Mason of Nixa, Missouri, left his earthly body on April 14, 2010, in the Neighborhoods of Quail Creek at the age of 96 years. Born February 23, 1914, the son of the late Arch and Anna (Davis) Mason of Day, Missouri. Glen was a retired Navel Chief Petty Officer and Veteran of World War II serving bravely as one of the men who waged war beneath the sea. Serving proudly for 20 years, Glen's calm manner and devotion to duty contributed to his success in his navel career, conducting himself in a manner that was inspiring to others he served with. After his retirement from Navel duty in 1955, Glen and his wife Norene relocated back in Nixa where they pursued their dream of farming, raising cattle, and doing an honest days work. Glen lost his devoted wife of 56 years in 2001 and continued to call Nixa home till deterioration in his health brought him to Springfield. Glen was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo, Ernest, Purd, Vern; one great-grandchild; one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Ella Linebaugh. Glen was a loving man that shared his life through his honesty, humility, quiet spirit, never ending generosity, and never aging enthusiasm. Grandpa you will be sadly missed. Glen is survived by his brother, Pete Mason; sister, Wilma Raper; daughter, Judith Rantz and husband Herman; three granddaughters, Sharron Gritzo, Patty Kaegel and husband Jeff; Melissa Herman and husband Stewart; seven great-grandchildren, Richard Gritzo, Jedediah Gritzo, Josh Gritzo, Brittney Kaegel, Lewie Kaegel, Chris Herman, and Michaela Herman; 11 great-great-grandchildren; countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Glen was an active member of the American Legion Post 434 of Nixa; VWF 6758 Nixa; and U.S. Submarine Ozark-Runner Base. May your heavenly days be filled with never ending war stories . . . your Navel buddies are glad you're home. Visitation will begin from 1 to 2 on Saturday, April 17 with a service starting at 2 p.m. in Adams Funeral Home in Nixa. Graveside services with full military accompaniment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ozark-Runner Base, USSVI Memorial Fund 2517 E.
