Lisa Workman Obituary

Lisa G. Culp Workman

Lisa Gay Culp Workman, age 44 of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Joplin, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Born April 19, 1967 in Joplin, she was a 1985 graduate of Parkwood High School and lived in the Springfield and Joplin areas all her lifetime. In 1990, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Missouri Southern State University. In 1998, she received her Master of Science degree in Taxation from University of Tulsa, Okla. Effective April 18, 2007 Lisa was promoted to Firm-wide Director of Tax Services for BKD CPA and Advisors, only the third person in BKD history to hold this post. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Joplin and was actively attending Hope Community Church in Springfield. Lisa loved her three Yorkies, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was active in the Joplin community, serving as a Board member for the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce and the Southwest Missouri Estate Planning Council.

On October 3, 1998, she married Brian C. Workman at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Joplin. They just celebrated their thirteenth year together. He survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Madelyn Renée Workman of the home; her mother, Dolores G. Culp of Joplin; two brothers, Gary G. Culp and wife Donna of the Neosho, Mo. area, Mark A. Culp and wife Connie of San Diego, Calif.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Her father, Gene G. Culp, preceded her in death.

She will be sadly missed by her family friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church Family Life Center with her brother, Gary G. Culp, minister, officiating. BKD employees and their families will be seated as a group. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to either Isabel's House of the Ozarks or Susan G. Komen for the Cure, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
