Miranda Craig Obituary

Miranda Jintara Craig, 18, peacefully passed from this world to the next on Dec 3rd, 2010. Miranda was born on March 3, 1992, in Monett, Mo. At 4 months of age, she was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, leaving her with several developmental delays. She attended the DCO in Springfield, and Reeds Spring Elementary, where, with the help of her classmates and the teaching staff, she flourished. Miranda loved School and the many students, therapists and teachers who befriended, and helped her. Miranda was a joyful and loving person. The passion of her life was music. She knew hundreds of songs, and continually learned new tunes and would play them on the piano.
At the age of 11, after a medical mishap in the hospital, Miranda was left in a persistent vegetative state. She lay for seven years in a bed in the Ozark Mountain Regional Medical Center, and then slipped gently into the open arms of God.
The family wishes to thank the teachers, students and staff of The DCO, Reeds Spring Elementary School, and The Ozark Mountain Regional Center for the loving kindness and care so freely offered to her. If your life was touched by Miranda or hers by you, the family invites you to drop by The Rock House on the corner of Main and High St. in Reeds Spring on Sat., Dec 18th, between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. for a celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Developmental Center of the Ozarks or the Ronald McDonald House.

Miranda was a very special girl! She and David had their own communication since he was deaf. I loved signing her songs to him, and voicing his thoughts to her so they could "talk" to each other in pre-school and beyond. She will be missed dearly, but I know the angels in Heaven are rejoicing at her arrival!! We love you, Miranda!! This is not "good bye", but "see you later"!!! _\m/

My heart was deeply touched by Miranda. The students and I learned from her every day. She was a bright spot in my life as her teacher, and I was privileged to have her in my class. We loved her smile and her ability to play the musical instruments. One fond memory was when our class took a trip to Silver Dollar City. The kids all made sure that Miranda was included in all of the fun that we had that day. I also remember a funny moment in class where I thought that a young man was mocking me as I was teaching math. It turned out that Miranda was mimicking what I was saying! We all had a good laugh at that. Miranda is such a special young lady and now she is with God, free of disability and the beautiful angel that we all knew her to be.

I loved when Miranda made the comment to me about Mrs.Dial. "She is a nice lady" I still am amazed by all Miranda did in life!
