Nathanael Cook Obituary

Nathanael Reed "Cookie" Cook Sr., 75, Aurora, passed away May 12, 2007, in his home in Marionville following a long illness. He was born November 18, 1931, in Stone County, Mo., the son of the late Andrew Guston and Nellie (McCullough) Cook. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Cook was a warehouseman for the Juvenile Shoe Company in Aurora. Mr. Cook served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was with the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry, 7th Division. He was honored in Springfield, Mo., by Mel Hancock, Roy Blunt and the South Korean President. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association of Branson/Hollister and also a member of the VFW, American Legion and the KWVA Honor Guard. He had also been a member of the Aurora Houndawgs CB Club. Nathanael Cook and Lynda Woody were united in marriage on May 13, 1962. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lynda Cook, of the home; three children, Cheryl Adamson and husband, Frank, and their children, Brandi, Amber and Hunter, of Ft. Scott, Kan.; Donna Harris and husband, Randy, and their children, Josh, Will and Stormy, of Marionville, Mo.; and Nathanael Cook Jr., and wife, Stephanie and their children, Kyla, Ashlynn, Cheyenne and Cody, of Marionville; two great-grandchildren, Courtland and Hayden, both of Ft. Scott, Kan.; two sisters, Genna Faye Burgess and husband, Jack, and Icy Jane Reavis, all of Marionville, Mo. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 15, at 2 p.m. in the Westrip Funeral Home in Crane, with Pastor Rick Flood officiating. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, with full military honors provided by the Korean War Veterans Honor Guard of Branson/Hollister. Friends may call in the Westrip Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening. Donations are requested to the KWVA Honor Guard in care of the funeral home.
