Olive Hampton Obituary
Springfield - Olive Emogene Hampton, 93 years of age, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, October 14, 2018, in Springfield, MO. She was born on September 1, 1925, in Hartville, MO, to Clarence Courtney and Novella Fay (Barr) Pearman. Olive was united in marriage to her husband, Vernon, on September 23, 1948. To this union four children were born: Ronald Hampton, Helen Barber, Larry Hampton, and Linda Wolf.
Olive was an elementary teacher in the Hartville and Purdy School Systems, and at Mark Twain Elementary in Springfield, MO. She enjoyed quilting, canning, playing word games, and crossword puzzles. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life; she loved having her family for dinner almost every Sunday.
Olive is survived by her children: Ronald (Janice) Hampton, Helen (Rick) Barber, Larry (Billie) Hampton, and Linda (Lloyd) Wolf; brothers: Carl (Irene) Pearman, John (Jewell) Pearman; grandchildren: Court and Tanya Hampton, Bailey and Justin Keenoy; Michael and Stephanie Hampton, Staci and Jarod Denney, and Kaitlyn Kulesus; great-grandchildren: Ava Hampton, and Taylor and Emma Hampton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Vernon; and brother: Harold Pearman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest next to Vernon at Little Creek Cemetery in Hartville, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Olive's memory may be made to Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church Youth, Springfield, MO.
Care and arrangements are under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. - DeGraffenreid-Wood-Crematory, Springfield, MO.

My condolences to all my aunts uncles cousins and beyond for the loss of Olive. Olive was such a special lady and her family is such a testament to that. Olive was beating me at two games of Words With Friends when she died. It's so fitting that her legacy was Sunday dinners with family and she left the world that way. As it should be

I had the privilege of having Mrs. Hampton as my teacher at Mark Twain elementary in 5th and 6th grades. She was a very capable and wonderful teacher and person. Sorry to hear of her passing. I extend my condolences to her family and my congratulations to Mrs. Hampton on a life well lived.
My time in her class made me a better student and person.
