Robert "Luther" Rader

Robert Rader Obituary

Robert "Luther" Rader passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2008, in his home in Marshfield, Mo. He was born to Ovid and Gertrude Rader on August 13, 1920, and married to Zela Rader from 1940, until her death in 1986. They had two sons, Robert "Bob" Rader of Marshfield and wife, Linda, and their children, Clint, Curtis, Cindy, Lisa, Danny, Ashley, Magen and Malinda; and Samuel Rader of Tulsa, Okla., and wife, Barbara, and their children, Shelley, Stacey and Sarah. There are 22 grandchildren from Bob and Sam. Luther re-married and is survived by his wife of 22 years, Grace "Ferrier" Rader and her children, Paula (deceased), Carolyn, Janet, Peggy, Regina and Randy; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Luther was a life long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was the great-grandson of Andrew Rader, one of the first English speaking Lutheran pastors in the southwest. He spent many years in heavy road construction, building highways and interstate highways in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Anyone in the four state area will have traveled on one of the roads and highways he built in the 1960s, 1970s or 1980s. After his retirement, Luther was still active on his bulldozer building ponds, clearing and mowing on Bob's farm. He and Grace spend several years enjoying life together Marshfield, MO., and the winters in Arroyo City, Texas. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2008, in Day Funeral Home, Marshfield. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 1 p.m., in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marshfield, with burial in Marshfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Community Hospices of America.
