Sally Ann Thomas of Springfield, MO, died on Sunday, February 22, 2015, in Normal, Illinois, at the age of 78 years.

Sally was born on April 6, 1936, in Barrineau Park, Florida, to Adam and Ella Duft. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty; brother, Andy; and her son, Philip Perry Thomas.

Sally leaves her loving husband, Robert (Bob) of 58 years; daughter, Mary and her husband, Paul Turner; son, Steven and his wife, Cindy Thomas; daughter, Susan and her husband, Kenneth Watkins; daughter, Sandra and her husband, Aaron Fader; brother, Carl Duft; nieces: Kathy Dickerson, Kim Schildknecht; and nephew, Michael Goebel. She also leaves grandchildren: Cassie, Stephanie, Bella, Wyatt, Dylan, Marley, Marshall; and great-grandson: Desmond.

After being born in Barrineau, Florida, Sally's family moved to St. Louis, MO, where she attended and graduated from high school. She met and married Bob on October 13, 1956. Their first three children were born and raised in St. Louis until 1974, when they purchased the Hickory Grove Resort on Lake Pomme de Terre in Pittsburg, MO. In 1975, the twins were born and raised on the resort until moving to Springfield in 1986. Sally got a job in retail at Sears and Roebuck. She worked there 17 years until she retired. After retiring, Bob and her enjoyed traveling and visiting all their children and families.

Sally's hobbies included fishing for crappie, cross-stitching, and reading. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, MO, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. A private burial will be held at the MO Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO.
