Warren Myers Obituary

Warren Allen Myers

Warren Allen Myers, 84, passed peacefully into God's Kingdom on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Warren was born March 29, 1927 to William Thomas "Tom" and Henrietta Lucille Sebart Meyers in Michigan City, Indiana. Warren graduated from Wheatfield High School and joined the Navy upon graduation. World War II ended before he could begin active duty so he returned to Wheatfield where he soon met and married the love of his life, Eleanor Callahan. Warren and Eleanor were married 52 years and were the parents of three children, Catherine Anne (spouse, James Moore), Robert Allen (spouse Gail) and Lisa Anne (spouse Bernie Stasiak). Warren was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, Deborah, David, Robert, Jacqueline and Michele Moore, Gregory, Heather and Thomas Myers, and Michael Warren Stasiak. He was also the proud great-grandfather of ten great-grandchildren and he was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new great-grandchild in July. Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; his parents, Tom and Lucille; and many aunts and uncles.

Warren worked for United States Steel Corporation of Gary, Indiana, for 32 years and was able to retire early and begin an entirely new career. . .farming! There was nowhere he would rather be than working on the farm which took him back to his childhood roots. He was also an avid fisherman, spending many happy hours in his little boat. Warren also worked for American Products in Strafford and his smiling face and burly countenance will be missed by the folks at American whom he called his friends.

Visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, 1947 East Seminole, Springfield, on Monday, June 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be said at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2200 West Republic Road, Springfield at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Father Tom Kiefer, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri in recognition of Warren's great love for dogs.
