William Francis Buehler

William Francis Buehler was born September 5, 1925 in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life at the age of 87 on November 24, 2012.

Bill worked for Frisco Burlington Railroad for 38 years. He attended St. Joseph and St. Agnes schools and graduated from St. Agnes in 1943. Bill then attended State Teachers College (MSU) in 1943 and 1944.

He enjoyed all sports. Bill pitched professional baseball for the Independence Kansas Yankees in 1947. He played in the KOM league. He played first base for the Knights of Columbus in 1945-46 Triple A Fast Pitch, going to the nationals in Cleveland, Ohio in 1946. He pitched semi-pro baseball for the Russell Generals, going to nationals in 1953 in Wichita, Kansas.

Bill married Loreatta Ann Trester in 1954 and they had six children. She preceded him in death as well as his parents, William J. and Laura Mach Buehler.

He is survived by his six children and seven grandchildren, daughters, Jennifer Kruse and her children, Kristin and Mitch; Karen Nichols and husband, Randy and their son, Nash; Staci Hegle and husband, John; sons, Bill Buehler and his sons, Tyler and Grant; Andrew Buehler; Tom Buehler and wife, Elizabeth and their children Laura and Dylan; and his sister, Ruth Jennings of Patton, CA.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 10:00 am in St. Agnes Cathedral under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Verona, Missouri. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 pm in the funeral home.
