Dr. William Leo Douglas Rogers

Springfield - Dr. William Leo Douglas Rogers, age 94, of Springfield Missouri passed away on Friday the 29th of December in Mercy Hospital. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas August 22, 1923. After attending many schools in Arkansas and Kansas he graduated from Neosho High School in 1941; followed by two years at Joplin Junior College (Missouri Southern University).

In 1943 he entered the Navy and served three and a half years during WWII stationed mostly in the Pacific and six months occupation of Japan at the final rank of Lieutenant j.g. (D) U.S.N.R. Upon return to the US he entered the University of Missouri at Columbia using the GI Bill to earn a B.A. degree and continued on at University of Missouri Kansas City Dental School to earn his DDS. He practiced dentistry for over 44 years in Springfield Missouri.

He married Constance Annabelle (Rudder) Rogers September 4, 1948 at Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson City, Missouri. They were married 48 years until her death July 21, 1996.

Doug was an accomplished wood sculptor creating a large collection of "imaginings found in wood". He participated and supported many groups involving education, and those providing access to quality dental healthcare, as well as serving in a myriad of children's activities from Indian Guides, to baseball boosters.

He was preceded in death by his wife Constance Annabelle (Rudder) Rogers, brother Delbert Cecil Rogers and wife Mary Helen, sister Constance Ethel Breuer and husband Hubert, parents Claude Leo Rogers and Olive Ethel (Hanks) Rogers.

He is survived by his children, Steven Douglas (Robin) Rogers, Cynthia Carol (Michael) Lea, Catherine Elaine (Michael) Bankston, William Curtis (Sandra Harrison) Rogers, Constance Elizabeth (Daniel) Leonard, and Thomas Miller (Taunia Davis) Rogers.

Grandchildren: Steven Jason, Geoffrey Douglas (Marcy), and Jennifer Todd Rogers, Michelle Lee Garand (Rick) and Judah Michael Lea, Catherine Jane Bankston and Theresa Suzanne Woolery (Danny), Ashleigh Renee Rogers, Anna Christine, Emma Margaret, and Joseph Curtis Leonard, and Madalyn Rogers.

Great Grandchildren; David Rogers, Kaytelan Grace and William Patrick Garand

Nieces and Nephews, Debbie Greer (Rogers), Stan, Pamela, Kimberly and Jeffrey Breuer

Half Sisters, Joyce Rogers and Janetta Tracy.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 6:00 - 8:00 pm in Greenlawn Funeral Home South 441 W. Battlefield Springfield, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 4, 2018 1:00 pm in the Funeral Home with burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens immediately following funeral service.
