Obituary

Alfred Parker Burroughs Jr., 84, of N. Fort Myers, FL died Thursday, June 10, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born September 13, 1925 in Seattle, WA, son of Alfred P. Burroughs Sr. and Dorothy McCully Burroughs. Al, or "Park" as his sisters called him served in the U.S Navy, (Pacific Theater), during WWII and would later join the U.S. Army Reserves reaching the rank of Captain. He attended Indiana University and graduated from U.C.L.A in 1950. His first wife, Irene Doris Moleske died in 1978. He was later married, for more than 30 years, to Deanna Schell, who survives.

Al was a corporate executive, stock broker, then investor who resided in, Mexico, Connecticut and New York before retiring to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1969. He was a member of the Coral Ridge Power Squadron, serving as Commander and reaching the rating of Navigator, and served as Commander of the Landings Boat Club where he resided. In 1982, Al and Deanna built a house in Dubois, PA's Treasure Lake where they would spend every summer playing golf. In 1995 they would move from Fort Lauderdale to Fort Myers to continue their passion for golf year round. An avid world cruiser, and Dolphin's football fan, Al enjoyed a wonderful life and was considered by all who knew him a true gentleman.

His survivors include his wife, two sons.; A. Parker Burroughs III of Washington, PA and Philip Anderson Burroughs of Atlanta, GA; four daughters, Patricia Ann Caiun of Stuart, FL, Pamela Emily Rein of Jacksonville, FL, Shari Ann Critchley of Indialantic, FL, and Donna Beattie of Parkland, FL; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, JoAnn Beaudoin of Cajon, CA and Mary Lowe of Ramona, CA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 22908.
