Obituary

Donald L. Moritz of Cape Coral, formally of Effingham, Illinois, passed away at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral. Donald was born on November 23, 1924 in Effingham, Illinois and resided in Effingham until the early 80's. He went to school, raised a family, and owned a business in Effingham. He worked with his father C.J in the Moritz -Redi Mix Concrete and Construction business and continued as the CEO after his father's death. He retired to Cape Coral, Florida in 1982. Donald was well known in the community for his philanthropic endeavors and as a civic leader. He will always be remembered as a man who truly knew the meaning of giving back to the community and how service to others leads to fulfillment and enrichment in one's life. He also served his country in the Naval Air Corp in World War II.

Donald is survived by his wife, Lynda, his three daughters, Linda Bohacek, Joan Rapovich, and Lori Leland, and two step-sons, Todd and Tim Williams. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Dustin and Tosha Miller, Bryant and Jamie Bohacek, Zachary and Brooke Leland, Brooke and Blake Williams, and Kendall, Sylis, and Jenna Rose Williams. In addition, his is survived by his siblings, Ruth Best, Dee Sargent, and twin brother, George. His very special furry friend, Sir Dudley, a Persian cat will miss him terribly as they were best buddies.

A celebration of Donald's life will be held at the Metz Chapel (239-542-2134) in Cape Coral on Monday, April 21st. A family and friend visitation will be held from 1-2 pm, followed by a memorial service from 2-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy East, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
