F. Franz Obituary
Fort Myers - F. Shane Franz, 91 died peacefully on November 25, 2018 at Lee Healthpark after a short illness. He was born in Corning, NY on October 14, 1927, son of the late Milton B. and Margaret Shane Franz.
He was a graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Class of 1950. Shane served during the Korean War as a Lt. in the Army artillery, Forward observer.
His lifetime career was spent in the office furniture and design field; as a manufacturers' representative and co-owner of Budget Office Furniture, Ft. Myers.
A 40 year resident of South Ft. Myers, he was involved in many community organizations. He served as president of the Ft. Myers-Edison Kiwanis Club and as a founding board member of SWF Crimestoppers. As an AARP Tax-Aide he volunteered for many years at Lakes Library.
He was predeceased by his brothers David M. Franz, Olean, NY and Noel C. Franz, Cleveland, Ohio. Surviving are his wife Barbara, daughter Stephanie (Walter) Jones, Sarasota: sons Michael S. (Freeda Windland), Fayetteville, NY; John B. (Meta), Milton, DE, Eric C. (Katie), Cazenovia, NY; and Fritz- his constant companion and loving caregiver. Grandchildren Natalie, Daniel, Christopher, Alyssa, Shane, Carter, Caroline and Cullen and a great-granddaughter Katerina; sister, Maureen Franz Cull of Ft. Myers.
Shane was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather; beloved by his family for his love, care and great wit.
Burial will be at a later date in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
Arrangements have been entrusted to National Cremation & Burial Society.
