Guy Perry Obituary


Obituary

Guy L. Perry, 96, of Elkhart, IN and Cape Coral, FL, died Monday, April 30, 2001 at Cape Coral Hospital. He was born January 29, 1905 in Elkhart, IN to Pearl P. and Eulalia (Hopkins) Perry. He died of natural causes. He worked for S.S. Kresge Company in Baltimore, MD and later became Founder and Onwer of G.L. Perry Variety Stores. Mr. Perry was a member of First United Methodist Church, Noon Exchange Club, Diamond Lake Yacht Club, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite-Siloam Masonic Lodge #35 Constantine, MI, Mizpah Shrine Temple, Fort Wayne, IN. He married Mabel Grubb October 17, 1937 in Baltimore, MD. She died April 2, 1997.

Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Nile (Cathy) Thompson of Jenison, MI; son, Burton (Hyon Hui) Perry of Elkhart, IN; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Ford (Edna) Perry of Cape Coral, FL; three sisters, Thelma McCullough, Mary Helen Rebscher and Dorothy Van Horn; two brothers, Bruce and Max Perry preceded him in death.

Services will be held Saturday 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Elkhart, IN, with Rev. Ron Mabry, officiating. Visitation will be held 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funral Home. A Masonic Service will be performed by Tyrian Lodge #718 at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, IN.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
