James Wichert Obituary


Obituary

James L. Wichert, 97, was born January 19, 1905 in Jackson, Michigan. He died April 10, 2002 in Port Lucie, FL.

Mr. Wichert retired from Chrysler Corporation in March 1967, as Director of Advertising. He spent his entire life in the automotive field. First with General Motors & Chrysler, except for the years 1941 - 1946, which he served in the Army during the war years. He entered the service as a 1st Lieutenant, was involved in the D-Day operation at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge - discharged a Major. He attended Hillside College and graduated in 1928. He married Edna 'Dolly' Baker in 1928. On his retirement he moved to Ft. Lauderdale then Fort Myers. He joined the staff at Edison Community College. Retired from E.C.C., 12 years later. He was a member of St. Hilary's Episcopal Church as a charter member and later, President of the Mens Action Guild for two years.

Mrs. Wichert passed away on April 4, 1993. His daughter, Joanne W. Correll passed away on January 1, 2002. He leaves three grandchildren, William James McNair, Diane Baker Butler, and Jeffrey Wichert Correll and seven great-grandchildren, Charles, Angie, Rosa, Rene, Rory, Shea and Kyle.

Memorial services will be held at St. Hilary's Episcopal Church on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 11:00 a.m.

The family would prefer memorial contributions be made to St. Hilary's Episcopal Church.
