Lois L. Hochstetler 73, of Bonita Springs, FL died at 9:45 AM April 21, 2002 at her home, suffering from a rare lung disease, interstitial fibrosis.
She was born on March 5, 1929 to Henry and Leona Leichty of Wayland, Iowa. She married Henry J. Hochstetler on September 12, 1948. She is survived by her sons, Steven (Debra) Hochstetler and David (Beverly) Hochstetler all of Elkhart, IN; daughters, Cynthia Wiegand of Osceola, IN and Patricia Lindsey of Bonita Springs, FL; grandchildren, Shawn Hochstetler of Panama City, FL, Shannon Hochstetler of Bristol, TN, Tim Ginter at Purdue University, Pamela Ginter at Indiana University, Stephany Lindsey of Naples, FL and James Lindsey of Bonita Springs, FL; ten brothers, Edwin (Jean) of Vilisca, IA, Ellis (Phyliss), Calvin (Norma), Marion (Marlene), Richard (Barbara), Larry (Pat), Royce (Carla) all of Wayland, IA, Wesly of Rihad, Saudia Arabia, Dwight (Joyce) of Tuscon, AZ and Douglas (Pam) of Rock Island, IL and one sister, Doris Mullet of Vancouver, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Verda Mae.
Lois was very active with the family R/V businesses in Elkhart, IN. She was a partner in Travemaster, Inc. a manufacturing concern, and in Elkhart Travel Center and KOA Elkhart, a dealership and campground operation for eighteen years. The businesses were sold after which she joined her husband in co-managing Imperial Bonita Estates in Bonita Springs for six years. The couple later formed Hochstetler Realty, Inc. in Bonita Springs.
Lois was a deacon and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, FL. She was known for her willingness to serve others. For many years she was seen in the church kitchen serving cookies, punch and coffee during fellowship hour, or working in the church gardens trimming and weeding or collating church bulletins on Friday mornings. She was known for her organizational skills in presenting church suppers and arranging floral decorations at church functions.
She loved to quilt, sew and travel. She accompanied her husband to all U.S. states, all Canadian Provinces, and many European countries. She loved to cook and entertain friends in her home, especially her church cell group. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 24, 2002 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Wayland. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Hochstetler will be held Sunday, May 5, 2002 at 2:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs.
