Obituary

Lt. Col. William Lord Brookfield, 93, died May 4, 2001, in Shell Pointe Village, FL. He graduated from St. Paul's School, Concord, NH and from Harvard University. He served on Omar Bradley's General Staff and in General Paton's HO Section in WWII. For many years he was Personnel Manager and Company Officer of the New Jersey Zinc Co. He was a Director of Squadron 'A' Assn. NYC, Master of the Western Star Lodge #37, Norfolk, CT, a 32nd degree Mason, Senior Warden of the Church of the Transfiguration, Norfolk, CT, a board member of the Chapel by the Sea, Captiva, FL and President of the Doolittle Lake Co. and the Norfolk Country Club. Mr. Brookfield worked tirelessly as a volunteer to improve services to his local communities. He was also a member of the Harvard University Club, the Down Town Assn. NYC, the Colonial Wars and the Mayflower Society. He recently published two books of stories as a salute to family and friends and to the Brookfield Glass (Insulator) Co.

He is survived by his wife Jean McGraw Gillett Brookfield, his two sons, William L. Brookfield, Jr. and Christopher Morgan Brookfield, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

His Memorial Service will be at the Church of the Transfiguration, Norfolk, CT at 11:30 AM on July 14, 2001.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Church of the Transfiguration, Norfolk, CT.
