MARGARET "PEGGY" MANKIEWICH

Margaret "Peggy" Mankiewich

August 12th, 1945 - February 24th, 2013

After a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis Peggy passed away. She started her long career in nursing after graduating St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1967. She moved to Florida in 1981 from New York after working as Director of Nursing at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. She began working at Ft Myers Community Hospital now Southwest Regional Medical. She later joined the staff of Lucerne Medical Center in Orlando as Director of Nursing and became Operational Director. She was also instrumental in setting up as mobile hospital unit in Florida City after Hurricane Andrew devastated Miami in 1992. She came back to the west coast to work with Gentiva Home Health Services and was Executive Manager for their offices in South West Florida. She worked with Virginia B. Andes Volunteer Health Clinic in Port Charlotte as Director of Nursing. She is survived by her mother Margaret, her sister Lorraine, and her brother Jack and his wife Dorothy, and her brother Jim as well as 3 nieces and 3 nephews. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. There will be a Celebration of Life Wednesday March 6th, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at the Pilgrim Church, 24515 Rampart Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL.
