Walter Klimek Obituary


Obituary

Walter Klimek 85, of Bonita Springs passed away Monday, December 27, 2004. He was born December 21, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Jacob and Josephine Klimek. He married Rose Huntz in November 1947. She passed away January 21, 1999. Mr. Klimek served in the United States Navy during World War II from May of 1944 until May of 1946. He was a gunner on merchant ships hauling supplies to Murmansk in Russia, Cherbourg, France and the South Pacific region. Prior to his Navy service, Mr. Klimek was employed by Federal Truck Company in Detroit. Following his Navy service, he owned a donut business and a dry cleaning establishment. In 1977, he moved to Bonita Springs where he worked part time for K-Mart in Naples and at the Bonita Banner circulation department. Mr. Klimek was a life member of VFW Post 4254 and St. Leo Catholic Church in Bonita Springs.

He is survived by his two granddaughters, Nancy Anderson of Castaic, CA, and Dianne L. Shaffer of Labelle, FL; grandson, Robert C. Anderson, Jr. of Wayne, MI; 4 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; niece, Delores (Phil) Jackson; nephew, Rich (Cecelia) Sloane both of Cape Coral, FL. His brother, Joseph was killed in France during World War II.

A Memorial Mass for Mr. Klimek will be celebrated Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 1:00 PM at St. Leo Catholic Church. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the VFW Post 4254 or the American Legion Post 303 in Bonita Springs in his memory. Walter Shikany's
