Sam D Smith Sam D Smith, a longtime resident of Prague, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 92. Sam was born on Friday, February 7, 1930 in Tribbey, Oklahoma. He was the son of Dudley Douglas and Nora Belle Smith. Sam grew up in and attended school in Tribbey, Purcell and Tecumseh and was a 1950 graduate of Tecumseh High School. Following high school, Sam attended Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State University), where he graduated with a bachelors degree in agriculture education. He then proudly served his country, by enlisting in the United States Army. He served in the Army for four years and then transitioned to the Army Reserves, where he served until 1967. Sam married Alma Louise Tucker on August 24, 1951. The couple moved to Prague in 1966, where they purchased the Tri-County Farm Center, Inc. Sam was very involved in the Prague Community. He served for many years as a dedicated member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Prague. He was also a member of the Prague Chamber Commerce, Main Street Prague, a charter member of the Prague Kiwanis Club and the Prague Masonic Lodge. He served on the Board of Central Oklahoma Workforce Development for 15 years and he was the emcee for the Prague Kolache Festival for many years. Prior to moving to Prague, Sam taught Agriculture Education at Maud Public Schools. There he developed a passion for agriculture, students and learning. This passion led him to serve on the Prague School Board, where he served as president. He was also instrumental in raising the funds to build the original ag barn and raising money for the annual spring livestock show for many years. Sam was long time member of the Lincoln County Fair Board, the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, Oklahoma Beef Improvement member, the Oklahoma Simmental/Simbrah Association and the American Simmental Association where he served on the board of directors. He was also named as the Simmental Family of the Year in 1998 and was entered into the Golden Book of the World Simmental Federation in 2005. Sam was also very involved in FFA/4H Booster Club, the Athletic Booster Club and was a longtime voice of the Prague Red Devil Football Team. Sam's dedication to the Prague community was awarded by the City of Prague and The Prague Chamber of Commerce. He was awarded with both the Pride in Prague Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of over seventy years, Alma Smith; two children, James Clifton Smith and Phyllis Ann (Smith) Davis and one son-in-law, Reggie Anderson. Those left to cherish his memory are, daughter, Bonnie Anderson of Prague; son, Gregg Smith and his wife Judi of Prague; six grandchildren, Shawn Anderson and his wife Brandi; Ryan Anderson and his wife, Bryna, Amy Rich and her husband Tim, Cara Raines and her husband Matt, Michael Smith and his wife Kim and Steven Smith and his wife Kat; thirteen great-grandchildren, Macyn Anderson, Abby Anderson, Arissa Magness, Jake Raines, Cade Anderson, Kailey Rich, Eli Raines, Austin Anderson, Gracy Rich, Brennyn Smith, Leah Raines, Emma Raines and Holly Smith; one great great-grandchild, Beckham Grey; three brothers, Gene Smith and his wife, Edith, William Smith and his wife, Minnie, Dallas Smith and his wife, Dorothy; six sisters, Anna Smith, Irene Womack and her husband, J.B., Lottie James and her husband, Ray, Maxine Mayo and her husband, Herman, Esterlene Fletcher and her husband, Paul, and Millie Burns and her husband, Johnny and one brother-in-law, Charles Tucker. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday, October 3, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Prague. A graveside service will immediately follow at Prague Cemetery. The family will accept guest from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
