Nancy Crook

Nancy Crook, 84, of Tellico Village, died July 14, 2023.

Nancy was born Sept. 29, 1938, and raised in Marshall County, Ky., the youngest of seven children who survived to adulthood (sadly three of her siblings were lost in early childhood). She graduated near the top of her high school class and left home to attend nursing school at Southwestern College in Memphis, which subsequently became Rhodes College. In nursing school she met Jerry Crook, whom she married in 1967. Prior to their marriage, she served in the U.S. Public Health Service for two years in Kentucky and Panama.

After getting married, in addition to working intermittently in nursing in different roles, Nancy spent the next two decades pouring her soul into raising her children and participated in numerous volunteer activities. She later returned to full-time nursing, working alongside Jerry before retiring in 2008. Retirement allowed her to fully develop her most favorite role as "Nana" to her seven precious grandchildren and continue her volunteer activities.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Those who knew her know that she was one of the kindest and most patient people they could ever encounter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Jerry Crook; and parents, Gilbert and Mary Henson.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jay Crook and Robin Crook of Knoxville; daughter, Dr. Joy Crook of Nolensville; and seven beloved grandchildren, Caroline, Cooper and Ethan Crook, and Evan, Emma, Jackson and Jacob Widner.

Memorial services will be held Aug. 12, 2023, at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Loudon beginning with a receiving of friends at 11 a.m. and followed by a celebration of life service at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of a donation in her memory to Episcopal Relief and Development, which focuses on relief for the hungry and those suffering from disaster, or a charity of your choice with a focus to relieve the suffering of others.
