Vivian Clark, 93, recently of Birmingham, Ala., passed away peacefully in the early morning of Nov. 22, 2022.
Born June 8, 1929, in Maryville to Margaret Griffitts Montgomery and Andrew Carroll Montgomery, Vivian Ruth was the fourth of five children. The family moved to Lenoir City when she was 9 years old. Vivian was an excellent student and graduated at the top of her class from Lenoir City High School in 1946 at 16 years old.
Vivian was an accomplished pianist, often playing duets with her friend Curtis Clark, who introduced his brother, Charlie Clark, to Vivian upon his return home from World War II as a naval pilot. Vivian and Charlie were married in 1946. Vivian and Charlie raised four sons, Charles, Mark, Mike, and Jim, who they were proud to tell anyone they met that all four were doctors.
Vivian and Charlie were founding members of the Monte Sano Methodist Church, where she served faithfully as pianist and organist for many years. She received the "Light of the Mountain" award for exemplary service and devotion to the Monte Sano community. As an active member of the Monte Sano Garden Club, she made friendships that lasted a lifetime. Avid adventurers, she and Charlie traveled to spend winters in south Texas and summers in Maine. They frequently visited Europe with Huntsville, Ala., friends.
Vivian was an attentive and devoted wife to Charlie. Vivian's caring love of family, friends and faith was enveloping and demonstrative. The love of all those who called her Mother and Mamaw sustained her throughout life.
Vivian was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles Hobart Clark Jr.; her parents; and by siblings, Virginia Montgomery Breazeale, Andrew Montgomery Jr., Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Montgomery Wildman and Lucy Montgomery Cusick.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. Charles Hobart Clark III (Patricia), Dr. Dennis Mark Clark, Dr. Michael Dean Clark (Donna) and Dr. James Montgomery Clark (Lourdes); grandchildren, Charles "Chad" Clark IV (Meghann), Michael Clark (Katie), Paul Clark (Sara Emily), Jeanette Clark (Corin), Mark Clark Jr. (Ellen), Laura Clark Bartlett (Taylor), Michael Clark Jr., Carolyn "Carrie" Clark Casey (Matt), James "Jay" Clark Jr. (Erica) and Margaret Clark Sheets (Ryan); and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at noon Dec. 4 at Monte Sano United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Ala., with a memorial service following at 1 p.m. Vivian's six grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Dr. Mack Finney and the Rev. John Mullany will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Monte Sano United Methodist Church, 601 Monte Sano Blvd., Huntsville AL 35801.
The family sincerely appreciates the kind and loving care given by Ms. Brenda Boyd.

Vivian´s " boys", the Doctors, had a wonderful, brilliant and special mother that, along with Charlie, sure did a good job in the offspring business. She was always proud of your successes and the care you afforded her. I knew Vivian for some years at the Wellness Center as she went thru the battle with Charlie and before she moved to B´ham. A fine southern lady that was a pleasure to visit with and know. Love you Vivian and rest in peace.
