Linda Tyree Obituary
Linda Jeanne Loving Tyree, 83, of Charlottesville, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at The Laurels of Charlottesville. Born December 3, 1938, she was a daughter of the late William Swanson Loving of Afton and Idelle Jackson Giles Loving of Roseland.
Linda attended Lynchburg College and was a Registered Social Worker with the Commonwealth of Virginia. She retired after 43 years of service as a Clinical Social Worker Supervisor and Coordinator of the Pediatric Neurology Program at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the Epilepsy Association of Virginia, serving as Vice Chairman for one term, as well as a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she served as Secretary of Church Council and Chariman of the History and Archives Committee. Linda was also a member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Melvin M. Tyree; daughters, Jozilla B. Gitchell (David), Syble Ashley Meadors (Clay), Elizabeth Shrank, and Allison Babcock, and grandchildren, John Daniel S. Meadors, William David Gitchell, Jackson Meyers Gitchell, Syble Ashley Gitchell, Anna MacIntyre Gitchell, and Benjamin Ross Meadors.
The family is especially grateful for the care and many kindnesses she received from the staff while a patient of The Laurels.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Aldersgate Methodist Church is Charlottesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Immediately following, a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1500 East Rio Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901, or to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 7539 Patrick Henry Hwy, Roseland, VA 22967.
