Virginia Louise Smith Johnson, 79, of Amherst, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Virginia was born in Nelson County, on April 30, 1943, to the late William Norvelle Smith and Evelyn Perry Smith. Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Charles Harvey Johnson, this past February, but, she is reunited with him now for eternity.

She was a proud member of Clifford Baptist Church. Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her loving daughter, Joyce Joseph (Barry) of Evington, Va. She is survived by her two very special granddaughters, Amber Bryant (Cody) of Madison Heights, and Kayla Martin of Evington, Va. Virginia is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Killian Bryant, Zane Bryant, and Layla Edwards, and with one more addition on the way, Alayna Martin. Surviving siblings include Margaret Gilbert and Susie Stevens of Madison Heights, Bessie Smith and Judy Smith of Nelson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was predeceased by her siblings, Evelyn Johnson, Kathleen Ramsey, John Smith, James Smith, Douglas Smith, Lester Smith, and Jesse Smith.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Clifford Baptist Church with a one hour prior visitation starting at 10 a.m., Dr. Michael Fitzgerald will be officiating. Burial will follow at Briarwood Memorial Park.
