Annie Wilson Layne, 81, of 482 Johnson Mountain Road, Evington, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of Bernard Zack Layne Sr. for sixty years.
She was born on August 7, 1940, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Harry Wilson and Kathleen Goff Wilson. She was a member of Langhorne Chapel Church and a retired seamstress for Altavista Manufacturing and worked in the school cafeteria for Altavista Elementary School. Annie enjoyed reading, sewing, fishing and walking, she was an excellent cook and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Bernard Zack "Buzz" Layne Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Evington; one daughter, Lisa Layne Kegley and her husband, Tony, of Evington; three brothers, Steve Wilson and his wife, Teri, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Jerry Wilson and his wife, Pansy, of Big Island, and Ronnie Wilson of Lynchburg; three sisters, Earline Stinette and her husband, Carl, of Lynchburg, Thelma Markham of Bedford, and Laura Robey of Forest; four grandchildren, Zach Layne, Josh Kegley, Kelsey Layne and Ethan Kegley; and one great-grandson, Eli Lane.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford Wilson, James Wilson and Roger Wilson; and two sisters, Mollie Ann Wilcher and Betty Mason.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Altavista Memorial Park by Pastor Dwight Weaver and Pastor Owen Layne.
The family will receive friends other times at the residence.
