Donald Bernard Butt

Donald Bernard Butt, 78, of Lynchburg, was born into eternal life on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. He was born on November 20, 1946, to the late William Francis and Hazel Woodruff Butt.

In addition to his parents; he is predeceased by his siblings, James Keith Butt, Lowell Thomas Butt, William C. Butt, Sr., Betty Butt Westbrook, and Sr. Francis Bernard.

He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during Vietnam. He later moved into a career at BWXT for 35 years of service before retiring.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Peggy Butt; children, William Marty Butt, Kevin S. Butt (Wendy), and Kristi M. Butt; grandchildren, Zach C. Butt (Katy), Blake T. Young, Anna K. Butt, and Kelly E. Butt; great-grandchildren, Cailyn Butlin, Kynleigh Butt, and Creedon Butt; and his brother, Robert Francis Butt.

Thank you to Centra Hospice, especially Ashley, Janet, and Sheila for their loving their care.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.
