Donald Dodgion Obituary
Donnie was a member of Windfall Baptist Church and had retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, golf, NASCAR, and loved boating. He was an honorary member of the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
He was preceded in death by two children, Rocky Dodgion and Dawn Maddox; a brother, Bill Dodgion; and a sister, Ann Dodgion.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Peggy Woody Dodgion; three children, Deborah Deel, Darrell Wayne Dodgion and wife, Pam, and David William Dodgion and wife Annie; a brother, Ted Dodgion and wife, Mary; and a sister, Wanda Bunnell. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Whitten Monelison Chapel where a Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 with the Rev. Dr. Derik Hamby officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

When I went to work for VDOT during the 70's, Donnie was my supervisor in the Traffic and Safety Division. One day, he found a large white rabbit in his yard and called me. I went & picked her up, brought her home, named her Puff, and she was the best house-broken rabbit you could
imagine. Donnie later suggested that I join the Monelison Volunteer Fire Dept . I did. He was one of the best men I ever worked with, both at VDOT and the Fire Dept. He was a good man and will be missed. Sorry for your loss.
