Edith Gallimore Suddith

Edith Gallimore Suddith, 95, went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2009, surrounded by her family, at the home of her daughter in Concord.

"Granny" was born May 25, 1914, in Carroll County, to the late Estel N. and Pearlie Adkins Gallimore. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Suddith, her grandson, Bobby Gallimore, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Compton and several brothers and sisters. She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. She was employed in the Cotton Mill until its closing and then at Giles Salad Kitchen until retiring.

Granny is survived by her children, Robert H. Gallimore (Carol) of Abilene, Texas; Peggy B. Keys of Concord; and Clifton D. Compton of Lynchburg; her son-in-law, Tom Keys, of Concord; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several half-brothers and sisters of N.C. Also surviving are her special friends and caregivers, Betty Woods, Ken and Carolyn Lovell, Ethel Barbour, the Williamson family, Dr. Pletke and her wonderful, skilled and professional staff from Hospice of the Hills.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, June 26, 2009, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, and other times at the home of her daughter. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Spring Hill Cemetery with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating.
