Edward Hauser Obituary

Edward Shane Hauser

Edward Shane Hauser (Purdy Sunshine), 55, of Forest, Va., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 15, 2025. Born in Lynchburg, Va., on November 18, 1969, he was the son of Janice L. Hauser and the late Fred T. Hauser, Jr.

Ed graduated from Hargrave Military Academy in 1988 and went on to have a long career as a store manager for NAPA, working there for 32 years. He was known for his dedication to his work, knowledge of the business and his dependability and reliability. Ed had many interests and hobbies that brought him joy. He loved spending time with his close friends every Friday and Saturday night, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and enjoyed fishing whenever he could. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, Ed also loved his truck and made certain it was always spotless. He was especially close to his dog, Gixxer, who passed away in 2014, and his bond with Gixxer was a significant part of his life.

Ed is survived by his mother, Janice L. Hauser; his brother, Fred T. Hauser III and his wife, Amy; his sister, Sue Beverley and her husband, Mark; nieces, Logan Ruff and her husband, Dakota, Madison Sitton, and Caleigh Hauser; and great-nephew, Banks Ruff. He also leaves behind many friends and a huge NAPA family who will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A private inurnment will be held at Virginia Memorial Park at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society at www.lynchburghumane.org or to a charity of your choice.
