Mrs. Elizabeth Pugh Roberts Younger
Mrs. Elizabeth Pugh Roberts Younger, of 4175 Leda Road, Nathalie, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Mecklenburg County on April 2, 1937, and was 73 years of age. She was the daughter of the late George Ted Pugh and Ella Louise Adcock Pugh.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arvel Harvey Roberts, and her second husband, William Ronald (Bro) Younger.
Mrs. Younger was a member of the County Line Baptist Church, where she was Director of the Open Arms Ministry. She was 5th District Poll Director for 20 years.
Mrs. Elizabeth Pugh Roberts Younger is survived by two sons, Donald Harvey Roberts and wife, Treva, of Pittsylvania County, and George Thomas Roberts and wife, Lucretia, of Cleveland, Ga.; two daughters, Connie R. Dodson and husband, Clarence (Pete), of Halifax, and Catherine R. Panther and husband, Jake, of Chase City; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Madeline Bush, of Lynchburg, Catherine Scott, of Chase City, and Jean Crownover of Sherwood, Ark.; and three brothers, Douglas Pugh, of Hickory, N.C., Thomas Pugh, of Chase City, and Michael Pugh, of Hickory, N.C.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Pugh, George Lee Pugh and William (Bill) Pugh.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Elizabeth Pugh Roberts Younger will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at County Line Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Collins and Mike McDowell officiating. Burial will following the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 6, 2010, at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home, 4175 Leda Road, Nathalie.
