Lacy Evelyn Kestner Chernault, 92, of Appomattox passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Appomattox Health and Rehab Center.

Born in Appomattox on September 18, 1930, she as the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Kestner and Mary Franklin Kestner. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was a retired photographer for BWXT.

She is survived by a son, Tracy Dion Chernault and wife, Courtney of Colonial Heights; a daughter, Debra Joan Chernault King and husband, Dean of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Jesse Dylan and Kyle Alexander Chernault; one sister, Frances Guill of Appomattox; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Bugg and Clarine Mays.

A graveside service will be held 11 am, Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Liberty Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Rusty Small officiating.

Dear Tracy and family -- Evelyn was the consummate artist...I have a framed photograph of hers of a scene from the Historical Park hanging in our den...Frances and Laura gave it to me some 40-50 years ago. Her eye for beauty is a part of that picture and I look at it often. Thinking of you.
